At Children’s Mercy, we believe in making a difference in the lives of all children and shining a light of hope to the patients and families we serve. Our employees make the difference, which is why we have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top pediatric hospital, for eleven consecutive years. Children’s Mercy is in the heart of Kansas City – a metro abounding in cultural experiences, vibrant communities and thriving businesses. This is where our patients and families live, work and play. As a leader in children’s health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital. ## Overview The Children’s Mercy Research Institute (CMRI) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bioinformatics Scientist with a strong specialization in Gene Therapy and Advanced Therapeutics to join the Yue Xu Lab. This position is tailored for a computational powerhouse eager to apply advanced data science, next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows, and predictive modeling to further the genetic medicine, translational oncology, and pediatric therapeutic goals of CMRI. The Yue Xu Lab operates at the cutting edge of AI for Science, specializing in the development of deep learning-powered platforms (such as AGILE and LUMI-lab) that automate and accelerate the discovery and rational engineering of ionizable lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for mRNA, circular RNA, and plasmid DNA delivery. By merging active machine learning with high-throughput combinatorial chemistry, the lab constructs organ-selective and tumor-tailored nucleic acid delivery systems to achieve targeted gene correction, inhaled base editing, and enhanced cancer immunotherapies. The Bioinformatics Scientist will take computational ownership of the lab's multi-omic pipelines and predictive modeling architectures. You will work closely with wet-lab researchers to bridge AI-driven vector design with experimental validation, translating high-dimensional genomics data into optimized molecular therapeutics against major pediatric diseases.
