ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Provides assistance and information to active staff, retirees, and COBRA members on employee benefits programs, services, policies & procedures. Assists with new hire orientation as it relates to benefits information and enrollment. Assists with processing insurance changes and enrollments. Receives FMLA, MN Paid Leave and/or Long-Term Disability employee leave requests; communicates appropriate procedures related to requesting and being granted for the leave to employees needing FMLA, Worker's Compensation, and/or Long-Term Disability leaves of absence. Creates and maintains tracking systems for employee leaves. Advises employees and monitors, enters, and adjusts employee time off entries necessary for leaves. Meets, greets, and directs visitors to the Administrative Services area; provides effective customer service and responds to questions and requests in accordance with established procedures. Initiates and processes employee status change forms to adjust contracts and salaries for employees on leave. Responds to employment verification requests. Manages and tracks employee time off balances. Coordinates time off rollover and allocation process; Monitors, enters and adjusts employee time off entries necessary for each leave in HRIS and Absence Management systems. Creates, updates, and maintains report templates and runs reports as requested. Manages and maintains paper and electronic employment data records. Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment. Perform other duties as assigned or requested. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience: Associate's degree in human resources, public or business administration, or a closely related field. Two (2) years of professional benefits administration experience. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
