Backend Engineer

What You'll Do Own core services end to end — architecture through production. Build and evolve the algorithm-driven components that power real-time routing and delivery decisions, and understand what's actually happening under the hood Sit in the room for architectural decisions, contributing to system design across a complex distributed environment where choices have real downstream consequences Take features from the first design conversation with product through to production, with full visibility into what you're building and why Develop with AI as your primary tool, setting the standard for what great AI-driven development looks like on a complex, high-stakes system What You Bringg 3+ years of backend development experience in a modern language ( Node.js a strong plus) Real, daily hands-on use of AI development tools — this is a baseline, not a bonus Solid experience with databases: PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures, with a strong grasp of asynchronous execution models Strong advantages: Advanced monitoring and observability practices Why This Role Matters Your code runs mission-critical infrastructure that the world's largest retail operations depend on — not in a theoretical way, in a "this has to work before the morning shift starts" way.
