CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER ABOUT AVIVA FAMILY AND CHILDREN’S SERVICES Aviva has served Los Angeles children, youth, and families since 1915. Its continuum of care helps families facing poverty, housing instability, trauma, discrimination, and other significant barriers achieve greater stability, well-being, and lasting connection. POSITION OVERVIEW The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a vital member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for developing and leading financial management strategies and tactics to enable the organization to carry out its mission successfully and ensure long-term sustainability. The CFO reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and serves as a member of the Executive Team while also providing leadership and supervision to the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Finance and the Director of Information Technology, overseeing a combined team of approximately eight. In addition to financial stewardship, the CFO is responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of the agency's information technology infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring experience in the mental health and/or nonprofit sector along with a collaborative, learning-oriented leadership style. They will be skilled at building effective systems and helping teams strengthen their understanding and application of budget and contract management. Experience working within complex Los Angeles-based organizations will enable them to thoughtfully assess organizational needs, establish priorities, and implement sustainable improvements. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Organizational Strategy and Leadership Partner with the CEO and senior leaders to define organizational priorities and develop a comprehensive strategic plan to advance the mission, values, and overall objectives of Aviva Family and Children’s Services. Develop and implement financial strategies and tactics to support the organization’s mission and goals. Guide management, board, and staff on all financial matters. Serve as a key management representative for the Board of Directors’ Finance Committee and Audit Committee; lead the Risk Management Committee; and report and present at Committee meetings. Financial and Operational Management Lead the planning, implementation, and management of all fiscal activities of the agency, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, tax, audit, payroll, and cash management. Prepare and present financial reports to the CEO and Board of Directors, providing analysis and recommendations. Provide swift decision-making and well-advised leadership on resource allocation and expenditure. Ensure compliance with all financial reporting and regulatory requirements, including contracts, and tax filings. Identify issues, options, risks, and creative solutions and coordinate the preparation of negotiation packages for governmental agencies. Assess risk and ensure appropriateness of agency insurance coverage, including liability, workers’ compensation, malpractice, property, crime, and medical. Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, investment managers, auditors and other financial service providers. Budgeting And Forecasting Oversee the annual budget process, working with program managers and other stakeholders to develop realistic and achievable budgets. Monitor actual performance against budget and provide regular updates and analysis to the CEO and Board of Directors. Develop and maintain financial forecasting models that support long-term planning and decision-making.
