You perform preventive maintenance, mechanical diagnostics, and official inspections as part of daily responsibilities. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties: - **Vehicle Repairs:** Perform maintenance and repairs on cars, trucks, tractors, and construction equipment while replacing worn or damaged parts - **Preventative Maintenance:** Carry out routine servicing including oil changes, tune-ups, tire changes, and adjustments to major systems - **State Inspections:** Complete official safety and emissions inspections, apply inspection stickers, and finalize required records - **Diesel Servicing:** Service diesel equipment by replacing components, repairing systems, and conducting basic maintenance tasks - **Field Work:** Provide emergency road service and complete repairs outside the garage when required - **Safety Compliance:** Maintain a clean work area, follow safety procedures, and report injuries promptly **Work Schedule and Additional Information:** - Full-time employment - Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. - **Telework:** You will not have the option to telework in this position. - **Salary:** Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,819.00 (before taxes). - You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices. **QUALIFICATIONS** **Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:** - Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; **or** - Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities. **Special Requirements:** - This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension. - You must be a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Certified Inspection Mechanic for Class 7 vehicles. **Additional Requirements:** - You must provide your own mechanics toolbox and basic tool set. - You must possess a CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate and a 134A Refrigerant Recycling Certificate upon hire. - You must be able to perform essential job functions. **Legal Requirements:** - A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening. **How to Apply:** - Resumes, cover letters, and similar documents will **not** be reviewed, and the information contained therein will not be considered for the purposes of determining your eligibility for the position.
