**Athletic Trainer** **Location: Denver Colorado** **Pay rate: $37.08 - $63.60** **Shift: Monday through Friday** **Hours: Days** At Uptown Community Health Center we improve the health of our community and provide care that respects the dignity of each person, especially those that are underserved. We teach tomorrow's physicians and healthcare professionals to provide excellent medical care with compassion and kindness. **Summary:** A Physician Extender Athletic Trainer (AT) is a clinical support professional who partners with supervising physicians to enhance patient care and clinic efficiency. They typically conduct initial injury evaluations, facilitate patient rehabilitation, fit braces, and manage clinic documentation within orthopedic and sports medicine settings. **Functions:** Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to organization standards, policies, and procedures, and to legal regulations; alerting others with potential concerns. Communicates in a professional, clear, effective, and compassionate way with patients, visitors, and coworkers. Both in person, on the telephone, and with written communication. Available to work in person as scheduled and report to work on time regularly and reliably. Documents properly and accurately within the electronic medical record: recording patient examination, treatment, and test results. Maintains patient confidentiality and protects medical office operations by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches. Other duties as assigned **Risk Education, Wellness and Health Literacy:** Identify risk factors by administering assessment, pre-participation exam and other screening instruments Implement plans to aid in risk reduction Promote health literacy **Assessment, Evaluation and Diagnosis** Obtain a thorough and individualized history Perform a physical exam using appropriate diagnostic techniques Formulate a clinical diagnosis Establish a plan of care based on the clinical diagnosis Triage the severity of health conditions **Therapeutic Interventions** Optimize patient outcomes by developing, evaluating, and updating the plan of care Educate patients on plan of care to optimize patient engagement Review therapeutic exercises to address impairments and enhance activity level Administer therapeutic modalities and devices Administer manual therapy techniques Determine patients' functional status using appropriate techniques and standards to inform decisions about returning to optimal activity Manage general medical conditions to optimize activity and participation **Clinical Procedures:** Fitting and applying casts Braces, splints, and crutches Assisting with minor in-office procedures or wound care **Diagnostic & Treatment Facilitation:** Educating patients on care and surgical plans Instructing patients on home exercise programs Processing orders for imaging (X-rays, MRIs) **Rehabilitation:** Managing and monitoring ongoing therapeutic and rehabilitation programs **Licensure / Certification:** Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification BOC Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers Valid state Athletic Trainer License **Qualifications and Experience** **Required:** Bachelor's degree in athletic training from an accredited program Two years' experience in a healthcare organization **Preferred:** Master's degree in athletic training Five years' experience in a healthcare organization Experience with Epic application and health record Experience working with and sensitivity toward special populations, including those with limited income, limited education, and non-English speaking individuals Bilingual English / Spanish - complete comprehension, literacy, and fluency in both languages ### Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement, PTO, and more
