Follow @abbvie on [LinkedIn,](https://www.linkedin.com/company/abbvie/) [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/AbbVieGlobal/), [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/abbvie/), [X](https://twitter.com/abbvie) and [YouTube.](https://www.youtube.com/user/AbbVie) ## Job Description In this exciting new role, the Associate Director of EHS - Strategic Projects will collaborate with a cross functional team (Engineering, Operations, etc.) to ensure EHS is built into the design & engineering phase of our **North Chicago site** from design to manufacturing. **Key Objectives/Deliverables:** - Act as the EHS liaison with Project stakeholders and Global EHS - Partner with cross functional teams to develop, establish, and sustain EHS systems, processes, and programs. - Ensure Regulatory Compliance, e.g. evaluating environmental Impacts - Safety by Design - Anticipate and eliminate potential issues in design & engineering phases. - Ensure innovation with Artificial Intelligence and new technologies have highest level safety considerations imbedded. - Engage site resources in achieving an interdependent safety culture. - Provide EHS technical support. - Consistent implementation of AbbVie internal technical standards across all projects. Implement best practices from across AbbVie’s EHS network. - Introduce automated tools and technology for safety compliance, analysis, and evaluation - Partner with construction company to ensure highest standard of Construction / contractor employee health & safety. **Responsibilities:** •Think strategically and ensure deliverables are aligned with broader organization and create awareness of this direction with affected members/business functions. •Visualize beyond short-term deliverables and expectations; monitor trends and practices external to own organization (both inside and outside of company) and facilitate continuous improvements that have long-term business value. •Monitor regulatory requirements and enforcement trends, conduct impact analyses, implement action plans for compliance, and monitor global compliance. •Identify organizational issues and underlying causes to make judgments; develop and recommend viable alternatives that support the EHS strategy; create new models or systems to apply to problems or opportunities. •Develop and implement appropriate programs, policies and procedures for global implementation. •Develop and report key performance indicators on EHS program implementation. •Summarize and report compliance status, strengths and priority issues, and recommendations for various levels of management and ensure the implementation of corrective actions. •Provide leadership and direction to direct staff through the promotion of teamwork, empowerment, coaching and development; and manage team performance to ensure organizational objectives are met. •Lead and/or participate on cross functional teams to represent EHS objectives related to the subject matter and to meet the team’s overall strategic objectives and deliverables. •Scope of position has global reach, represents company with external organizations, prepares or contributes to sustainability related reports for external viewing, prepares or contributes to reports for regulatory agencies, minimizes company liability related to EHS impacts, and investigates EHS related incidents. ## Qualifications •Bachelor’s Degree (EHS related, Science, Engineering) plus 10+ years of EHS related experience or Master’s Degree (EHS related, Science, E…
