An experienced Assistant Team Manager is required by Liquid Personnel for its client to support the Adult Disabilities Team in Wolverhampton. The role involves providing leadership, supervision, and professional guidance to social care practitioners, overseeing complex cases, ensuring safeguarding and statutory responsibilities are met, and promoting high-quality services for adults with disabilities. Responsibilities include performance management, quality assurance, workflow oversight, service improvement, and deputising for the Team Manager while driving positive outcomes for service users. What will your responsibilities be? Supporting the Team Manager in the day-to-day management and operation of the Adult Disabilities Team Providing direct supervision, appraisal, coaching and professional support to Social Workers and other team members Managing service demand, risk and workflow in accordance with statutory duties and local policies Overseeing complex casework involving adults with disabilities, carers and families Ensuring adults with care and support needs are safeguarded through effective risk management and strengths-based practice Providing management oversight and quality assurance of assessments, support plans and reviews Supporting staff with complex Mental Capacity Assessments, Best Interest decisions and court-related work Promoting person-centred approaches that maximise independence, choice and control for adults with disabilities Chairing meetings and representing the service at multi-agency panels, forums and professional meetings Supporting the development and progression of less experienced practitioners, students and non-qualified staff Contributing to service improvement, policy development and practice innovation Managing performance, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities, targets and service standards Supporting safeguarding enquiries and ensuring compliance with local safeguarding procedures Working closely with commissioning teams, health professionals and partner organisations to achieve positive outcomes Investigating and responding to complaints in line with council procedures Ensuring accurate case recording, management oversight and recording of supervision discussions Providing reports, analysis and performance information to senior management as required Deputising for the Team Manager and providing leadership cover across Adult Social Care services when necessary Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role you must have; MA, BA or BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or CQSW Registration Must be registered with Social Work England Experience Significant post-qualified experience within Adult Social Care Experience working with adults with disabilities, their families and carers Experience managing complex casework and safeguarding concerns Experience supervising, mentoring or managing staff and/or students Experience overseeing assessments, reviews and support planning processes Experience working effectively in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency environments Experience of performance management and quality assurance activity Experience supporting organisational change and service development initiatives Legislation Knowledge Strong working knowledge of: Care Act 2014 Mental Capacity Act 2005 Mental Health Act 1983 Human Rights Act 1998 Care and Support Statutory Guidance Adult Safeguarding policies and procedures Relevant Social Work England standards and guidance Strengths-based and person-centred practice frameworks Skills Strong leadership, supervision and performance management skills Excellent assessment, analytical and decision-making abilities Ability to manage complex social work interventions and competing priorities Strong safeguarding and risk management expertise Ability to lead and motivate teams within a challenging environment Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Strong partnership-working and multi-agency collaborati…
