They provide oversight for the full range of operational activities, resulting in positive experiences for both employees and customers as well as retail profitability – all in a manner consistent with our Mission and Values. The Assistant Store Manager Retail sets expectations for the proper execution of policies and procedures and responds as appropriate to employee performance. The person in this role may also serve as the acting Store Manager when the Store Manager is not present. **KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:** - Front End Oversight- - Customer Service: - Promote a consistent positive shopping experience for all CommunityAid customers to encourage repeat visits and deter theft. - Handles customer complaints promptly and professionally. - Cash Handling: - Comprehends and adheres to cash handling and management procedures. - Responsible for oversight of cash handling procedures, including counting cash drawers, reconciling transactions, making daily deposits and bank runs, while ensuring the security of the safe. - Trains and supervises the Retail Floor Supervisor and Front-End Trainer to the standard listed above - Clothing on the Retail Sales Floor Oversight- - Promotes CommunityAid’s sales and marketing strategies, including sales floor layout, merchandising, procurement stocking, product quality and rag out for the clothing area. - Conducts daily floor walks, sharing insights with Store Management to ensure alignment. - Designs and implements seasonal store layout changes with the support of the Retail Floor Supervisor. - Ensures the sales floor presentation, including recovery and signage, adheres to standards. - Ensures the proper functioning of the fitting rooms, including recovery of items to the sales floor. - Oversee the timely delivery of product to the sales floor, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to quality standards. - Communicates retail supply needs and provides feedback on the quality of product sent to the sales floor. - Staffing, Employee Training and Development- - Oversees Retail Associates (Retail Floor Supervisor, Retail Floor Trainer, and Retail Associates). - Conducts weekly or as needed one-on-one meetings with the Retail Floor Supervisor, Retail Floor Trainer, and Associates. - Evaluates potential candidates for cultural alignment and positions fit through phone interviews and on-site interviews. - Manages the selection and integration of new staff by adhering to company procedures. - Oversees Associate training: - Supports the Retail Trainers in training new Associates in their roles, responsibilities, company policies, procedures and best practices, including cross- training in other departments as needed. - Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure proper staffing levels, in adherence with the labor model. - Communicates performance expectations, coaching for improvement and success and utilizes existing performance management tools to document conversations. - Assists the Store Manager in the annual review process by sharing input on the employees’ performance. - Employee Engagement and Morale- - Promotes employee engagement through regular huddles and team meetings, one-on-one check-ins, special events, and prioritizing employee recognition. - Compliance and Regulatory Activities- - Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, as well as CommunityAid policies and procedures, and ensures these are clearly communicated and followed by Retail staff. - Facilities and Logistics Saf…
