Position: Assistant Store Manager Reports to: Store Manager Employee Status: Non-exempt. Full-Time Hourly Salary: $24-$25 per hour As an Assistant Store Manager, you’ll work alongside the Store Manager to help keep the Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity Store running smoothly and successfully each day. You’ll support and encourage staff and volunteers, provide great customer service, help oversee daily operations, and create a welcoming shopping experience for everyone who walks through our doors. This is a hands-on leadership role, so you’ll be right there alongside the team helping customers, supporting daily store operations, and pitching in wherever needed -- while also providing day-to-day guidance and support to staff and volunteers. Team Leadership - Supervise staff and volunteers in the absence of the Store Manager. - Assist with employee onboarding, training, coaching, and scheduling. - Foster a positive, customer-focused work environment. Volunteer Coordination - Partner with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, schedule, and retain volunteers. - Maintain volunteer schedules and accurately track volunteer hours. - Assist with volunteer orientation and ongoing training. - Maintain volunteer manuals and training materials. Merchandising & Sales - Help ensure merchandise is properly priced, displayed, and stocked. - Assist warehouse staff to maintain efficient donation flow. - Support achievement of sales, customer service, and donation goals. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: - Computer knowledgeable; including Microsoft Word & Excel (including POS software). Must have willingness to learn other programs as needed. - Self-motivated, reliable and enthusiastic. Enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds. - Ability to handle and defuse challenging situations with tact. Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. - Commitment to safe working environment. - Ability to provide leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers while also having the ability to perform most tasks in the absence of staff or volunteers. - Ability to lift 50 pounds. - Minimum three years work experience, preferably one year in a management role. - Retail management or supervisory experience preferred. Physical Requirements - Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. - Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb ladders, and move throughout the sales floor and warehouse for extended periods. - Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions while receiving donations.
