Areas of focus will be around E&O, Technology, Media and Cyber Liability. In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting and servicing an existing renewal book as well as soliciting new business opportunities. This role includes constant interaction with top nationwide brokers and insureds as AIG’s client base consists of Fortune 500 companies as well as major local regional players who elicit tailored and unique solutions. Through this role, underwriters gain access to a highly evolving and dynamic atmosphere that involves exposure to major influencers in the insurance, technology, and legal fields. The Assistant Regional Underwriting Manager will be based in Chicago and report to the Regional Underwriting Manager. This role will support the development and execution of the strategies for the portfolio within the territory. This role will be responsible for management of a team of Underwriters and oversee the performance of a portfolio of accounts. Further, the position will be responsible for the execution of the strategies for the defined territory. Role can also be a hybrid where manager also underwrites a book of business. Additionally, this role manages all Underwriting including the planning and monitoring work, development of underwriting and/or marketing skills, and ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines. This position has direct accountability for the business results of their unit within the Zone/Region and with respect to profitability, penetration and/or volume within a specific account, segment, geographic area, product or line of business. **What you will need to succeed** - Ability to exercise judgment, negotiate and make sound business decisions effectively based on increased level of authority. - Drive consistent underwriting best practices, in accordance with underwriting guidelines, to ensure rating, pricing, and structural adequacy. - Responsible for assigning and managing the work of a team of underwriters. Assist underwriters in executing on strategic initiatives.
