Assistant Professor of Clinical FCM / LCSW or LCPC (40% FTE) - Alton SMS-3819

This position will serve as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor at the SIU Alton Family Medicine Residency Program. The position will engage patients at medical visits through contractual arrangements with Barnes-Jewish-Christian Medical Group (BJCMG), which houses the SIU Alton FM residency practice. This position will determine the extent of patient needs for therapy and/or community assistance and/or referral to psychiatry. This position will also provide services to patients who have complex behavioral and social needs to facilitate patient success in managing their health. \*This position is ON SITE only\* **ADMINISTRATION (0%)** **TEACHING (20%)** A. Assist other behavioral health faculty in the development of the behavioral science curriculum, goals, and objectives B. Teach counseling skills to family medicine residents and medical students in the clinic setting. C. Observe resident and/or student encounters and provide feedback regarding interpersonal and communication skills and behaviors. **RESEARCH (5%)** A. Perform periodic literature reviews on behavioral science topics to keep abreast of latest developments in the field. B. Participate in collaborative departmental research, as opportunities arise. **SERVICE (75%)** A. Provide care to patients in clinic or through telehealth for consult services for mental health therapy. B. Provide care and on-going counseling services to patients C. Provide therapy to patients of specialized family medicine clinics if appropriate D. Provide group therapy as the need arises. E. Participate in Peer Review and Quality Improvement activities. F. Provide emergency services to patients as needed including those who are identified as having no primary care physician. G. Serve on department, school, or center committees as needed. H. Participate in the development and/or delivery of behavioral science presentations for residents, faculty, and medical students **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** 1. Master or Doctoral Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other closely related field. 2. Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois 3. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations. *The budgeted annual salary range is $35,799.20 to $39,379.12, representing the **academic base salary** only, which is funded through the University. The final academic base salary will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget considerations. Additional **clinical compensation** will be provided separately through a **member practice agreement**.*
