Positions in this classification may provide nursing care to patients in a specialty area. They also develop appropriate policies and procedures to ensure smooth functioning of the assigned teams. The Assistant Nurse Manager classification is distinguished from the Nurse Manager classification in that the Assistant Nurse Manager has responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of staff and activities of the assigned team(s) and assists the Nurse Manager in the development and implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and goals, whereas the Nurse Manager has direct responsibility for the operations, development, and administration of all assigned team(s).
