Fundamental duties include but are not limited to: coaching (specifically responsible for one of the following areas: 1. sprints / hurdles or 2. field events / jumps or 3. throws depending on area of expertise / qualifications), assist with meet management, assist with recruitment of student-athletes; and assist with student-athlete development. The position is a full time, 12 month position, with full benefits. Salary Range: $34,000 **Main Duties & Responsibilities** - Coaching (specifically responsible for one of the following areas: 1. sprints / hurdles or 2. field events / jumps or 3. throws depending on area of expertise / qualifications) - Assist with planning pre-season, season, and off-season practices - Assist the associate track and field coach with meet management of home meets (cross country as well as track and field) - Assist the recruiting coordinator with - Recruiting High-caliber student athletes with high character (cross country as well as track and field) - Assist with enhancing the student-athlete collegiate experience through team expectations and culture - Stress academic and athletic excellence - Assist with retention of student-athletes - Build a positive team culture - Assist with social media posts - Assist with other day-to-day team operations as assigned - Perform secondary duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. ## Qualifications **Experience and Education Requirements** **Required Qualifications:** - Bachelor’s Degree - Previous collegiate, club or high school coaching experience **Preferred Qualifications:** - Master’s Degree - 3-5 years of experience in collegiate, club or high school coaching **Essential Knowledge & Skills** - Ability to train functional groups within team training system. - Work independently on multiple projects. - Forward-thinking with excellent problem-solving skills. - Collaborate with a large range of personalities and value sets. - Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, students, recruits and other stakeholders. - Conduct oneself according to NCAA Division III and MIAC rules and regulations. - Ability to travel. - Work evenings and weekends. **Physical Demands** - **Medium work.** Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. **Physical Hazards – Health and Safety Concerns** - Driving - Extreme climate (Hot/Cold) ## Application Requirements Apply online at https://www.smumn.edu/about/offices-services/human-resources/employment-opportunities/ and include a cover letter, resume, and contact information for three professional references.
