Position Purpose Partners with the Division Sales Manager to strategically manage assigned department categories to increase sales, gross profit dollars, and market share while meeting or exceeding financial objectives. This role develops and executes category pricing, promotional, assortment, and merchandising strategies based on detailed performance analysis, industry best practices, and consumer trends. Duties and Responsibilities Category Strategy & Business Planning - Develop annual category business plans based on historical performance, market trends, and growth opportunities. - Create sales and gross profit projections at the category level and roll them into department and division forecasts. - Determine category strategies that support division merchandising objectives and company goals. - Measure and evaluate category and department performance through weekly, quarterly, and annual scorecards. - Analyze category contribution to overall department performance and profitability. Pricing, Promotions & Merchandising - Develop and maintain category pricing strategies by zone throughout the year. - Create and execute promotional calendars that support division merchandising strategies. - Track and evaluate promotional effectiveness based on sales, profit, and market share results. - Conduct detailed post-promotional analysis at both item and category levels. - Plan advertisements and displays that support category objectives and department initiatives. - Coordinate promotional plans, merchandising programs, and marketing messages across assigned categories. - Design shelf schematics and recommend product adjacencies that support category roles and maximize sales performance. Assortment & Inventory Management - Determine optimal product assortments based on category strategies and customer demand. - Evaluate and authorize new products entering the market. - Recommend discontinuation of underperforming products based on category contribution and performance. - Collaborate closely with procurement teams to ensure service level expectations and inventory objectives are achieved. - Manage category performance to maximize vendor funding opportunities and financial return. Vendor & Supplier Relations - Serve as the primary division contact for vendors within assigned categories. - Meet regularly with vendors to negotiate deals, review performance, and discuss business opportunities. - Attend key vendor planning meetings to support category growth initiatives. - Build strong vendor partnerships that support sales, profitability, and merchandising objectives. Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration - Coordinate and communicate category initiatives with stores, merchandising teams, procurement, and other division departments. - Work collaboratively with department personnel, division teams, and corporate merchandising to implement programs and initiatives. - Support and execute corporate merchandising strategies and company initiatives. - Visit stores as needed to evaluate merchandising execution and assess program effectiveness. **We also provide a variety of benefits including:** - **Competitive wages paid weekly** **· Access to up to 50% of your earned wages before payday, via our partnership with Stream** - **Associate discounts** - **Health and financial well-being benefits fo…
