Assistant Cheer Coach - Liberty Middle School

**General Description:** Position is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, and coaching instruction. Responsibilities may include supervising teams at varsity, junior varsity, and middle school levels. **Essential Duties:** - Under the direction of the Head Coach, assist with planning practices, running practices, and coaching during practices and games. - Communicate expectations to parents and players. - Ensure there are always two coaches at the field. - Attend all practices and games. - Arrange for practices/game coverage if you are unable to attend. - Start and end practices on time. You and other designated coach are always the last to leave the field. - Adhere to school board requirements and recommendations. - Attend all coaches' meetings. - Assist with player selection. - Supervision of team during all activities. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** In-depth knowledge and advanced strategies of applicable sport. Knowledge of VHSL rules. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to mentor and develop players in a positive way. Desire to teach and improve skill development. Must pass criminal record check. **Education and Experience:** Required: Previous experience as a player and/or coaching at any level. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. **Work Schedule:** Fall & Winter Season **Pay Grade:** 5 **Salary Scale:** Activities Stipend List**Physical Conditions:** Requires moderate physical activity. Requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time. Work is regularly performed outside. Potential for exposure to; adverse weather conditions, exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases, possible interactions with disruptive and/or unruly individuals. Work may involve exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and loud noise.
