Our mission makes AIDB a unique place to work. **BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:** - Current AIDB Employee - Must hold AHSAA Coaches Education Program certification (successful completion of Coaching Principles and Sports First Aid in an undergraduate or graduate degree program) or obtain these certifications before any practice may be attended. - Valid Driver License and ability to be insured by the AIDB insurance carrier. - A sign language proficiency level of INTERMEDIATE according to the AIDB evaluation system. - Must meet suitability/background requirements for employment **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:** - Valid Teaching Certificate - CDL with Alabama School Bus Driver’s License - Valid CPR certification - Previous coaching experience **PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:** **Coaching, Instruction & Program Development** - Skill Development: Instruct and train Varsity and Junior High School cheerleaders and the team drummer for sports seasons, demonstrating and teaching advanced cheerleading skills, activities, and specific drum needs. - Tryouts & Evaluations: Plan, conduct, and select independent judges for cheerleader and drummer tryouts. - Event Planning: Coordinate and supervise pep rallies, homecoming themes, and related activities in collaboration with the Athletic Director (AD) and school principals. - Specialized Instruction: Provide instruction to students on signing the National Anthem for home basketball games and special events. - Program Growth: Assist the Athletic Director in developing, improving, and supporting the overall athletic program, including assisting with off-season practices and summer camps. **Student Supervision & Safety** - Continuous Supervision: Ensure strict, 24/7 supervision of all Alabama School for the Deaf (ASD) students during practices, home games, away trips, and meals. - Player Safety: Adhere to athletic training philosophies focused on player safety; evaluate and treat minor injuries using basic first aid, and refer serious injuries to the school infirmary. - Travel & Logistics: Supervise students on the bus to and from athletic events and other program-related trips. **Communication & Community Relations** - Inclusive Communication: Effectively communicate with students, staff, parents and community members.
