Founded in 1858, AIDB serves more than 30,000 infants, toddlers, children, adults, and senior citizens with hearing and vision loss throughout Alabama each year. Our services span a lifetime and include five campuses in Talladega, a statewide network of regional centers, Early Intervention services, traditional and nontraditional educational opportunities in residential, day, and outreach settings, and a manufacturing facility known as Alabama Industries for the Blind (AIB), the state’s largest employer of adults who are Blind. If you are ready to make a profound, lasting difference in deaf education, you belong on our team. **BASIC QUALIFICATIONS** - Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (HI Certification), Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education OR Elementary Education from an accredited college/university. - Must hold a valid Alabama Teaching Certificate or valid certification in another state with ability to obtain reciprocity within six (6) months of hire date. - Must possess a sign language proficiency evaluation of INTERMEDIATE upon employment. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** - Master’s Degree in Special Education and/or Deaf Education or Elementary Education from an accredited college/university. - One (1) year or more of classroom experience. - A sign language proficiency evaluation of ADVANCED upon employment. **POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:** **Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties** - Instructional Excellence: Provide comprehensive, multi-subject elementary instruction. Develop, submit, and implement creative lesson plans, course overviews, and substitute teacher plans aligned with school curriculum and state standards. - Differentiated Learning: Utilize differentiated instruction tailored to individual student needs, continually evaluating, reporting, and modifying instruction based on student progress. - IEP Management: Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each assigned student. Confidently lead IEP meetings with parents, guardians, and colleagues. - Classroom Management: Establish clear standards for classroom behavior and provide age-appropriate discipline in accordance with the ASD Student Handbook to maintain a safe, positive learning environment. - Records & Administration: Maintain meticulous student records, including grades, attendance, testing, a…
