**The Mohave County Animal Shelter is looking to fill an Animal Shelter Technician position located in the brand-new state of the art facility!** Do you have a passion for animal welfare and want to make a difference every day? Mohave County Animal Shelter is looking for a compassionate, dependable, and hardworking Animal Shelter Technician to join our team! As an Animal Shelter Technician, you'll play a vital role in caring for homeless animals while helping them on their journey to a safe and loving home. **In this role you will,** - Feed, water, exercise, and provide daily care for shelter animals - Monitor animal health, administer medications, vaccines, and microchips - Clean and disinfect kennels, equipment, and shelter facilities - Maintain accurate animal records and medication logs - Assist with animal intake, behavior assessments, and animal pairing - Help maintain shelter buildings, grounds, and equipment - Work alongside Animal Control Officers and shelter staff to provide exceptional animal care **Minimum Qualifications:** - High School Diploma or GED - Six (6) months of experience working with animals in a veterinary clinic, humane society, animal shelter, or similar facility (volunteer experience may qualify) **We're looking for someone who is:** Compassionate and patient with animals Comfortable working with animals of all sizes and temperaments Able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds A dependable team player with strong communication and customer service skills **Proud to Offer:** - Paid Time Off (PTO) - 6.5 hours accrued bi-weekly (32+ hour employees only) - 39 hours of PTO front loaded - Regular accrual starts on 7^th^pay period - Low-cost, high-value healthcare for you and your qualifying dependents - Enrollment in Arizona State Retirement System - Contribution rate of 11.98% with Employer match starting the first day. - 11 Paid Holidays - Perform work with a greater purpose **About the position** - Compensation: Range 7/Steps 1-8 ($15.75 to $19.37) - 40 hours per week. - Work weekends and holidays caring for the animals. - Travel is required – to and from the vet 5 days per week with animals for surgery. - Interaction with the public helping find their new best friend! **- Must pass pre-employment background screening.** **- Must possess a valid driver's license for operation of motor vehicles at the start of employment and maintain said license while employed in this position.** ***Work Environment:*** - Indoors - Frequently outdoors, in temperatures above 90 degrees - Chemicals/fumes - Wet/damp area - High noise level - Bright lighting - Conditions frequently include confined area, stairs, or ladders. - Conditions may rarely include smoke/dust, dim lighting, exposure to contagious diseases. ***Physical Environment:*** - Sitting, standing, walking - Driving a vehicle - Speaking, hearing, seeing, reading - Distinguishing colors - Bending/kneeling, reaching - Climbing, crouching, balancing - Wearing protective gear - Precise dexterity - Lifting floor to waist fifty (50) pounds - Lifting waist to shoulder ten (10) pounds - Lifting should to overhead ten (10) pounds - Carrying a weight of ten (10) pounds for 300 feet - Pushing/pulling a weight of seventy-five (75) pounds for 300 feet - Cleans the animal shelter, wash floors, disinfect kennels. - Provides care and health evaluations for the animals, feed animals, treats minor injuries, looks for disease indicators, and impound stray animals, and secure all kennels and buildings at end of day. - Implants microchips to shelter animals. Administers vaccines and dewormers, as needed. - Assists Leads with animal intake evaluations. - Assists Leads/Supervisor with humane euthanasia. - Assists Leads with ill and aggressive animals, as needed. - Assists Leads/Supervisor with behavior assessment, safer testing, and shelter animal pairing. - Dispenses medication including vaccinations to animals. - Performs repairs and upkeep of bui…
