The County of Napa is seeking an experienced Alcohol & Drug Counselor III professional to join Behavioral Health of the Health and Human Services Agency. Alcohol & Drug Counselor III conducts more complex individual, family and group counseling services to clients involved in alcohol and drug abuse programs; to research, prepare and deliver presentations to schools, community groups and agencies concerning alcoholism and drug abuse prevention and treatment services; and to assist in the coordination of the alcohol and drug abuse programs and activities. This is the advance journeyman level class in the Alcohol and Drug Counselor series. This class is distinguished from the Alcohol and Drug Counselor II by the performance of community presentations, consultations and the more complex counseling assignments on a regular and continuing basis. This position is expected to perform a full range of outreach activities, supportive functions and counseling duties with a significant degree of independent judgment and responsibility. Incumbents will be given specialized assignments such as consultation to schools, discharge planning and court referrals. Positions assigned to this class may also provide for in-service training and may serve in a lead supervision capacity to lower-level staff. This recruitment is being conducted to fill 1 (one) full-time vacancy. The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year. Bilingual Spanish is not required but preferred. **Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Agreed Wintertime Off (WTO):- 32.0 hour of Winter Time-Off (WTO)** **POSITION REQUIREMENTSExperience and Education:** To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. (Additional qualifying experience in a certified alcohol or drug program may be substituted for two years of the required college education on a year-for-year basis.) **LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE:\*** Pursuant to Government Code Section 13010, applicants must be able to provide proof of certification or registration to obtain certification by a State approved Alcohol & Drug Counselor Certification Organization within 6 months of date of hire.
