The YMCA is seeking energetic, caring, and dependable individuals to join our licensed After School Program. We are currently hiring team members who are available to work Monday through Friday between 1:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. We understand schedules vary and offer flexibility based on employee availability and program needs. After School Counselors create a safe, fun, and engaging environment where children build confidence, complete homework, participate in enriching activities, and develop positive character through the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. **What We Offer** - Complimentary YMCA membership - Flexible weekday schedule based on your availability - Additional hours during school breaks, teacher workdays, and summer camp - CPR, First Aid, and AED certification opportunities - A supportive, mission-driven team dedicated to serving children with diverse abilities **Essential Functions** - Replace the existing Essential Functions section with the following streamlined version: - Provide a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and social well-being of all participants. - Supervise children at all times, ensuring they understand and follow program rules, daily schedules, and YMCA expectations. - Plan and lead engaging activities that support children's interests and development, including homework assistance, STEM, arts and crafts, sports, and character development. - Maintain accurate attendance, sign-in/sign-out procedures, child accountability, and required program documentation. - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program environment by assisting with daily setup, housekeeping, and care of supplies and equipment. - Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff while modeling the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. - Report accidents, incidents, and suspected child abuse immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and Florida licensing requirements. - Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, special events, member engagement, fundraising activities, and other assigned duties. - Remain knowledgeable of YMCA policies, emergency procedures, risk management practices, and Florida child care licensing standards. **Education, Training and Experience** - Must be at least 18 years of age. - Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or the ability to obtain within YMCA-required timeframes. - Experience working with children in childcare, camps, schools, recreation, or youth programs preferred. - Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. - Passion for working with children and the ability to build positive relationships with participants, families, and staff. - Ability to follow YMCA policies, procedures, and safety standards while exercising sound judgment. - Ability to actively supervise children in a fast-paced environment while remaining alert and attentive at all times. - Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and participate in recreational activities, including lifting up to 50 pounds as needed. - Ability to work both indoors and outdoors and respond calmly and appropriately during emergencies or challenging situations. **YMCA COMPETENCIES (LEADER):** - *Mission and Community Oriented:* Accepts and demonstrates YMCA values.
