University of Chicago Medical Center | Center for Advanced Care | Full Time (40 hrs per week) | Rotating Join the **University of Chicago Medicine** as an **Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)** for our **Oncology Rapid Assessment Clinic (ORAC).** **Sign On Bonus up to $10,000.00 and Relocation Available** The **Advanced Practice Provider** will be responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management and will manage patients by exercising autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The APP will provide healthcare and patient services that may include educational, research, and clinical support, as well as administrative activities under the direction and supervision of the Cancer Service Line leadership. The APP has acquired the knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary to deliver high quality care to hematology/oncology patients. The **Oncology Rapid Assessment Clinic (ORAC) i**s an APP-staffed clinic area that cares for cancer patients who require urgent, same day/next day assessment and treatment. Hematology Oncology often require acute care for symptoms of malignancy as well as for the toxicities and side effects of cancer treatments. After an orientation period, the APP will work autonomously and collaboratively with the rest of the ORAC APP team. The APP will utilize evidence based practice in close collaboration with University of Chicago heme/onc faculty, APPs, pharmacists and nurses. This candidate will be trained in the management of both hematologic and solid tumor malignancies, as well as oncologic emergencies (eg neutropenic fever, tumor lysis syndrome, cytokine release syndrome, neurotoxicity due to therapeutic agents, DIC, HLH, sepsis, and cord compression). **Advanced Practice Provider Essential Job Functions** - Taking patient history, conducting examinations, diagnosing illness - Patient evaluation and ordering and interpreting laboratory tests - Ability to exercise autonomy in medical decision-making, provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services **Nurse Practitioner Required Qualifications** - Master's Degree of Science in Nursing - Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration - Must be certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC or AANP - Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers - At least 1 year of inpatient nursing experience preferred but not required - Previous oncology, urgent care or ED experience preferred - Acute Care preferred **Physician Assistant Required Qualifications** - Completion of an accredited (physician assistant) educational program - Certification in ACLS and by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois licensure/registration - At least 1 year of experience in hematology/oncology, urgent care or ED preferred **Position Details** - Job Type/FTE: FT, 1.0 - Shift: Rotating - Work Location: Onsite- Hyde Park - Unit Department: Center for Care - CBA Code: Non-Union
