Our client, based in Cornwall, is seeking an experienced Adult Social Worker to join their Mental Health Team. This role focuses on supporting adults with complex and enduring mental health needs, including individuals presenting with dual diagnosis, neurodiversity, learning disabilities, trauma, personality disorders, and forensic backgrounds. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred interventions while effectively assessing and managing risk. What will your responsibilities be? In this role, you will: Manage a caseload of adults with severe and complex mental health needs, delivering outcome-focused and person-centred interventions Undertake Care Act 2014 assessments, reviews, and care planning Complete robust risk assessments and implement effective risk management strategies in high-risk cases Work with individuals presenting with dual diagnosis, neurodiversity, learning disabilities, trauma, personality disorders, and forensic backgrounds Support cases involving MAPPA and forensic histories through effective multi-agency collaboration Operate within key legislative frameworks including the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Care Act 2014, and Human Rights Act 1998 Complete Mental Capacity Assessments and contribute to Best Interests decision-making processes Lead and contribute to safeguarding activity, including Section 42 enquiries and Safeguarding Adults procedures Undertake Court of Protection work, including report writing and attendance Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams including health, housing, and partner agencies Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case records and reports Demonstrate professional curiosity, sound judgement, and evidence-based decision-making Key Responsibilities Core duties include: Managing a caseload of adults with severe and complex mental health conditions, ensuring effective care management and outcome-focused interventions. Undertaking comprehensive Care Act 2014 assessments, reviews, and care planning. Carrying out robust risk assessments and risk management, particularly in high-risk and complex cases. Working with individuals with dual diagnosis (mental health and substance misuse), neurodiversity, learning disabilities, trauma histories, and personality disorders. Supporting cases involving forensic histories and MAPPA arrangements, ensuring effective multi-agency collaboration. Applying and working within key legislative frameworks including: Mental Health Act 1983 (MHA) Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) Care Act 2014 Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA) Completing Mental Capacity Assessments and contributing to Best Interests decision-making processes. Leading and contributing to safeguarding activity, including Section 42 enquiries and Safeguarding Adults processes. Undertaking court work, including reporting and attendance for the Court of Protection (CoP). Working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams (MDT), including health, housing, and external agencies. Maintaining clear, accurate, and timely case records and reports in line with statutory requirements. Demonstrating professional curiosity, sound judgement, and evidence-based decision-making in complex situations. Qualifications & Experience Professional Qualification: MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England Experience: Minimum 2 years’ post-qualified experience, including completion of ASYE Strong experience within Adult Social Care and Mental Health Services Experience working with complex mental health cases, including high-risk individuals Experience in care management, safeguarding, and multi-agency working Experience with court processes and Court of Protection work…
