If this role aligns with your experience and passions, we highly encourage you to apply. **Summary** The **Accountant** is responsible for assisting in the monthly financial close and account reconciliation processes, completing quarterly and annual government surveys, assisting in the preparation of grant proposals, tracking expenditures relating to grants and restricted funds received by the Rock Hall, as well as compiling financial data for periodic and annual grant reports. The Accountant is responsible for understanding as well as assuring the Rock Hall’s compliance with state and federal grant regulations. The Accountant is also responsible for reviewing & reporting various tax liabilities of the Rock Hall. **RESPONSIBILITIES** - Prepare financial data on all grant reports (including CAC & OAC and Federal Grants). Must allocate expenses by appropriate natural and functional classification in compliance with specific report groupings and GAAP. - Manage processes and compliance requirements related to the financial aspects of development. - Collaborate with Development to ensure the implementation of donor requirements. - Review agreements and classify gifts appropriately (contribution vs. exchange, conditional vs. restricted). - Review grant activity to ensure transactions are properly classified and in compliance with grant financial terms. - Track spending relating to grants and restricted funds. - Monitor staff time allocations and perform project code updates within established procedures and processes. - Distribute accounting reports as directed. - Prepare standard, recurring journal entries for monthly close. - Perform complex and detailed reconciliations such as cash account, pledge, development, grants, and restricted activity. - When necessary, maintain and update process and procedural documentation to reflect changes on a timely basis, looking to continuously improve the process, adapting with the business. - Manage daily workload, while facilitating customer service, providing technical assistance and problem resolution with limited supervision. - May assist with data entry, scanning of invoices, mail distribution, answering telephones, and other clerical tasks as needed. - Performs other related duties as assigned. *Duties include but may not be limited to the above* **JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS** - Minimum of 3 (three) years of experience in accounting, or related field. - Experience with grants and or non-profit accounting highly preferred. - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA a plus but not required. - Ability to enter data accurately and efficiently into computer software and systems. - Deadline driven self-starter with keen attention to detail. - Must be multi-tasked oriented and well organized. - Good verbal and written communication skills. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. - Experience with Sage Intacct business management software is a plus. - Experience with Salesforce software is a plus. - Able to work prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. - Ability to work at least 40 hours per week; ability to be reachable to respond to Museum needs and requests.
