Northmarq is seeking an Accountant, Incentive Compensation to join the Finance & Accounting department in its Bloomington, MN headquarters office. In this role, you will support end-to-end incentive compensation accounting—calculating commissions across multiple plans, reconciling supporting schedules, ensuring accurate accruals and expense entries, and partnering closely with HR and Business Operations to resolve payroll and plan-related questions. Success requires strong attention to detail, the ability to navigate and maintain moderately advanced spreadsheets and systems, and clear, proactive communication when identifying issues, researching root causes, and driving process improvements. *This role supports a flexible schedule that prioritizes in‑office teamwork, with flexibility for remote work when appropriate. Specific Responsibilities Calculate incentives for multiple business lines and compensation plans in the compensation calculation platform. Become an expert of the platform, developing both technical knowledge and a comprehensive understanding for effective management. Thoroughly read, interpret and understand plan documents. Document key data points as necessary. Ensure compensation related and benefits accruals and expense entries are recorded, are accurate and complete and are in compliance with accounting policies. Reconcile supporting schedules for compensation related and benefits accruals, expense and related accounts. This includes identifying discrepancies, proactively researching root causes, and suggesting effective solutions Collaborate with HR and Business Operations to resolve payroll, incentive, and plan-related inquiries. Escalate urgent or higher risk situations to F&A leadership timely. Process payroll and bonus related wires Continuously review processes for improvement and efficiency gains Provide support for budgeting and forecasting processes, as well as assistance to F&A team, as assigned. Education and Work Experience Bachelor's degree In Accounting or Finance required. 2+ years of relevant accounting/finance experience. Understanding of commercial real estate and mortgage banking preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy Technical ability to navigate, maintain, and update moderately advanced spreadsheets and systems Proactive in identifying, researching, and solving problems Exceptional communication skills with both internal and external customers Commitment to providing outstanding customer service while maintaining company compliance and risk mitigation Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information Curious, eager to learn, and willing to support cross-functional projects Continuous improvement mindset, always seeking efficiency opportunities Northmarq offers a highly competitive benefits package including: medical, dental, vision, paid time off, 401K match and an annual discretionary contribution based on business performance, paid parental leave and adoption assistance, education assistance, volunteer paid time off, charitable contribution match and so much more!
