3rd Shift - Overnight Veterinary Technician/Assistant

**Experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician - 3rd Shift** Holly Springs HIRING BONUS $2000.00 - $2500.00 (based on experience) **Title:** Overnight Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Medical Assistant **Schedule:** 3rd shift (10pm - 8am) Full-time, every other weekend, includes some holidays Shift Differential $1.50/hr. Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital is looking for a highly motivated, highly skilled individual to join our overnight team. We provide 24-hour emergency service and specialty referrals in surgery, internal medicine and dermatology, and we're looking for technicians who want to utilize their skills to the fullest potential in a fast paced, fun, and stimulating environment. Our services are expanding, and we are currently seeking qualified technicians for our overnight emergency and ICU team. This role functions with a great deal of autonomy and responsibility; solid technical skills, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and with a team are required. Essential Job Duties: - Provide nursing care to critically ill hospitalized patients in conjunction with specialty and emergency veterinarians - Participate in nurse rounds - Triage incoming patients presenting on emergency - Assess patient stability and obtain patient vital signs - Perform diagnostics and treatments of emergency and hospitalized patients - Perform hourly patient assessment and monitoring - Observe patients and recognize changes in status - Place peripheral and central catheters - Restrain patients for exams and treatments - Set up and administer IV and SQ fluids - Maintain urinary catheters - Bandage removal and application - Perform suture and drain removal - Perform drug dose calculations for injectable medications and CRIs - Administer injectable medications (IV, IM, SQ) - Administer other medications (PO, OU, AU) - Maintain isolation protocols for infectious patients - Basic wound cleaning and care - Administer injectable and inhalant anesthesia - Monitor patients while under anesthesia and maintain a monitoring log - Monitor patients during recovery from anesthesia - Obtain samples for and perform in house laboratory testing - Assist in CPCR Job Requirements: - Graduation from high school or GED equivalent - Minimum of 2 years of veterinary experience (emergency experience required) - Current RVT in NC or eligible for NC registration (preferred, but not required) TVRH offers a comprehensive benefits package in addition to a hiring bonus and competitive salary: - Health, vision, and dental - HSA and FSA Plans - Short-term and long-term disability - Critical Illness, Accident and Hospital Indemnity - Life Insurance - 401k with employer match - Paid Parental Leave - Paid time off - Holiday pay - Annual scrub allowance - Generous in-hospital pet benefit ​
