SUMMARY The Part-Time Special Education Teacher at North Middle School provides specially designed instruction and case management services to students receiving special education, with a primary emphasis on improving reading and written expression skills. Services are provided through a combination of direct instruction in a special education setting and collaborative instruction within a co-taught general education Language Arts classroom. The successful candidate will support students primarily in Federal Settings I and II by implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), delivering evidence-based literacy instruction, and collaborating closely with general education teachers to ensure students have meaningful access to grade-level curriculum. The teacher will utilize data-driven instructional practices to develop students' foundational reading skills, reading comprehension, written language, organization, and written communication. The ideal candidate demonstrates knowledge of a broad range of educational disabilities and understands how those disabilities impact literacy development and academic performance. The individual possesses strong instructional design skills, experience with assessment and progress monitoring, and an understanding of due process requirements related to the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Qualified applicants will demonstrate the ability to provide differentiated instruction through multiple teaching modalities, collaborate effectively within a team-teaching environment, and foster positive relationships with students, families, and staff. The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, strong communication skills, collaborative leadership, and a commitment to creating an inclusive educational environment that promotes both academic achievement and social-emotional growth.
