2026 Volunteer Coach

Are you passionate about Parks and Recreation and want to make a difference in the community? Are you a parent who wants to coach your child’s sports team? We have volunteer opportunities for you! We’re looking for passionate volunteers to coach youth sports programs in our community. By becoming a coach, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the lives of young athletes, teaching them concepts like teamwork, sportsmanship and discipline. Your guidance will help these kids develop essential life skills, stay active and build friendships! Your time and dedication can make a lasting difference in a child’s life! It is recommended that you have experience and knowledge in the sport you are coaching, but depending on the programs we do provide practice plans, program goals and tips and tricks to help motivate kids. **EVRPD Volunteer Coaching Philosophy** The purpose of the program is to provide players with an opportunity to learn, grow, develop skills, meet new friends, and experience the excitement and fun associated with participation in youth sports. Volunteer Coaches are held to a high standard of ethics and responsibility for the players. This is your opportunity to teach the game, teach the love of the game, the rules, game strategy, teamwork, integrity and sportsmanship. You are very important in the success of the league and important in the education and motivation to making the child’s experience one to remember. In addition to teaching the rules of the game and how to play, volunteer coaches are responsible for making sure players get equal playing time, no matter of skill level. Through the Recreation Department we are promoting and practicing an inclusive way of coaching and not exclusive. Please show the players you care about their well-being and growth, encourage them, and give compliments when they are doing well and allow disappointment and don’t dwell on the negative when things don’t work. If you are ever in need of inspiration or questioning ethics or behavior, please come to Recreation staff. Our goal at EVRPD is to enrich lives with quality recreation and make sure players are learning and having a fun, positive experience.
