Summer Driver Fresh Air Camps | Hudson Valley, NY | June 11 – August 15, 2026 Since its founding in 1877, The Fresh Air Fund, a not-for-profit youth development organization, has provided free life-changing summer experiences in the outdoors to more than 1.8 million children from New York City’s underserved communities. The Fresh Air Fund owns and operates Sharpe Reservation which houses five of the six Fresh Air Camps, the Sharpe Reservation Environmental Center which serves over 18,000 visitors each year. The Fresh Aid Fund also operates Camp Junior, a camp for young people from the Bronx in Harriman State Park. Position Summary The Fresh Air Fund & Sharpe Reservation is recruiting Summer Drivers for our summer programs. Drivers work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. The Summer season begins in mid-June and continues through late August. The Fresh Air Fund is seeking hard-working, personable, reliable individuals with excellent communication skills to serve as summer drivers. Drivers support all Fresh Air summer programs by taking camp staff out to town during their time off, as well as helping to transport campers from camp, and occasional trips to NYC. A current driver’s license is required. Responsibilities Drivers work under the supervision of the Operations Coordinator. They help with all aspects of transportation for all Fresh Air summer programs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Drive staff out to town for their time off in a 15 passenger van - Picking up and dropping off supplies to NYC - Transporting supplies to Harriman state park. - Other driving as needed. Qualifications: - Age: Must be at least 21+ years of age. - Personal: Must be in good general health, able to lift heavy objects on a regular basis. - Must have the ability to be flexible and adjust to changes quickly. - General familiarity with the local area (Fishkill/Beacon for Sharpe Staff, Peekskill/Woodbury Commons for Camp Junior) - Must be comfortable driving for extended periods of time. - Handle concerns and issues in a constructive manner. - Must be comfortable with late night driving. - Driver’s license required. Employment period: Summer employment extends from June to late August hours.
