2026-2027 Preschool Lead Teacher - Before/After School JobID: 423 Position Type: Early Childhood/Lead Teacher Date Posted: 6/30/2026 Location: Gerner Family Early Childhood Center Additional Information: Show/Hide POSITION TITLE: Before/After School Preschool Lead Teacher, 9-month position SALARY: No less than $18.54 per hour BONUS: A retention bonus of $1.00 per hour worked will be paid on January 15th and June 15th, pending completion of semester. REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Principal MAJOR POLICY RESPONSIBILITY: The early education lead teacher is responsible for providing a developmentally appropriate educational environment. They are accountable for their classroom/site(s) operation. Major responsibilities include appropriate interactions with children, communication with parents, and supervision of associate teacher(s). QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in early childhood/elementary education and/or related area and/or equivalent training or experience. Skilled in written and verbal communication. Ability and willingness to supervise associate teacher(s). Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Continue education and/or professional development as required by program policy and accreditation criteria Able to lift 65 pounds to waist level on a regular basis. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. To provide a friendly and safe environment that encourages exploration and meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of both the individual and the group. 2. To interact appropriately with the students and to encourage their involvement in activities. 3. To create, with the associate teacher(s), daily lesson plans based upon approved objectives. 4. To establish and maintain good written and verbal communication with parents on a daily basis as necessary, through monthly newsletters, and through conferences as scheduled. 5. To observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior. To report other program/site/classroom needs to appropriate individuals. 6. To use developmentally appropriate practices and conflict resolution strategies. 7. To supervise, support, and evaluate associate teachers as required. To keep associate teachers informed of all program goals and developments. 8. To prepare materials and paperwork as required by program needs. 9. To understand and be able to demonstrate compliance with Accreditation Criteria. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS 1. To attend monthly staff meetings. 2. To adhere to all school district and program policies. 3. To perform other duties as required. 4. To report directly to program coordinator 5. To work overtime as directed by supervisor(s).
